Media Keys and iTunes can be friends

I got a new Dell PC with XP Media Center Edition. The media keys on the keyboard (like Skip, Back, Play, Stop, etc) didn’t work in iTunes unless it was the active window. In contrast, they did work with Windows Media Player, even if it was minimized (of course).
This is a known issues also with Toshiba laptops as Toshiba provides a Media Button Control Panel which is only compatible with WMP. The solution for years now was to use Gennady's tool RemoteX. Vista doesn't work with RemoteX and this is where "iTunesKeys" jumps in.
You can download and read all about iTunesKeys over at the Andy's site HERE.

nHancer v 2.4.1 stable

Posted by Dox on 16 May 2008 - 10:19 GMT

Latest stable and newest version released 2008/05/10

nHancer is a great tool to fully utilise the nVdia graphics card by way of advanced control panel and profile editor.
Its designed for both to both newbies and advanced users.

Changes in latest 2.4.1 release:
CODE
    *
New graphical design for the logos, the splash window and the about window, made by Eberhard Klauke.
    *
Completely redesigned user interface for the profile management:
          o
Search for profiles by their name (just enter a part of the game's or the application's name while nHancer's window is active)
          o
Filter the list of profiles with the new filter menu (the icon on the top right corner of the profile list) using their type or properties. Most useful is the filter that shows only the profiles for actually installed programs
    *
Support for all GeForce 9x00 cards and all GeForce (formerly Forceware) drivers up to 175.x
    *
Even the fixed settings in nVidia's predefined profiles can now be altered, including the "forbidden" flag used in some profiles to disallow anti-aliasing. All profiles can also be reverted to their original state just by clicking on the "delete" button.
    *
Added additional anti-aliasing modes for GeForce 8x00 and 9x00 cards. The mode "8xSQ" is especially interesting, it gives 2x2 supersampling and 2x multisampling
    *
Added new SLI modes for triple and quad SLI
    *
      Added support for Hybrid-SLI
    *
Added anti-aliasing compatibility flags for DirectX 10
    *
Added OpenGL multi monitor and multi GPU options
    *
If nHancer is started with full administration privileges, it runs fine even without the nHancer support service. It's possible to deny the installation of the service altogether during nHancer's installation procedure.
    *
A load of minor improvements and corrections. More details can be found in the Readme file

DOWNLOAD

Also any problems with the tool use the Support Forum found on nHancer's site.

I highly reccomend anyone with an nVidia card to try out this utility as it won't conflict with other programs such as nVidia's own control panel or the popular rivatuner.

175.16 WHQL as of today

Posted by Dox on 13 May 2008 - 16:54 GMT

Just a little update to say the 175.16 is now made WHQL and is the recommended driver by nVidia for geforce 5/6/7/8/9.
The last WHQL for the geforce 8 series was in December and after a long wait a new driver is finally made WHQL!

As ever if you downloaded and installed the 175.16 before it was made WHQL then there is no need to unistall and update to these WHQL set as its the same driver but just signed.
Also using a modded inf will break the WHQL certificate.

You can grab them from nVidia's site
or can find these drivers already in the forums with modded inf supporting mobile cards:

XP x86
XP x64

Vista x86
Vista x64

If you are confused as to what driver to try then i would recommend you give these set a go.
I've used them for a week now and everything looks great and running smooth.
