Any one got the Win10 upgrade yet ?

As I've already been running Win10 on my laptop for a couple of months, I won't be experiencing it
Work machine is lined up for upgrade, not sure how long before this will actually happen.

Any experiences either good or bad welcomed.
Microsoft are taking a huge gamble in this upgrade everyone from Win7 and beyond

NVIDIA provides Windows 10 driver support for our Maxwell, Kepler (select GeForce 600 series, GeForce 700 series and above GPUs) and Fermi class GPUs (GeForce 400 series, GeForce 500 series and select Geforce 600 series GPUs).  Maxwell and Kepler GPU architectures support Windows 10 WDDM 2.0 mode with support for Fermi coming at a later date.  At the time of Windows 10 launch, the GeForce Fermi architecture operates in WDDM 1.3 mode.  Since it is not possible to load both NVIDIA WDDM 2.0 and 1.3 mode drivers at the same time, you will not be able to mix Fermi class GPU(s) with Kepler/Maxwell class GPUs.  If your PC has a combination of both a Fermi class GPU and Kepler/Maxwell class GPU, the WDDM mode that loads will depend on which card will POST first.  Please refer to the table below for additional information.

If combination of graphics cards results in mixed WDDM modes, only graphics cards compatible with first card's WDDM mode will load display driver. Other graphics card(s) with different WDDM mode will fail to load driver.

How to temporarily prevent a Windows or driver update from reinstalling in Windows 10 


In Windows 10, your device is always kept up to date with the latest features and fixes. Updates and drivers are installed automatically, with no need to select which updates are needed or not needed. In rare cases, a specific driver or update might temporarily cause issues with your device, and in this case you will need a way to prevent the problematic driver or update from reinstalling automatically the next time Windows Updates are installed.ResolutionIf a driver or update you are being offered is causing system crashes or instability and Windows was operating correctly prior to that update, you can follow these instructions to prevent the unwanted driver or update from being installed: 

To uninstall the unwanted driver:

  • Launch the Device Manager with a right click on the lower left corner of the desktop and a left click on Device Manager.
  • Located the device driver with the problem driver installed, right click and choose Uninstall.
  • In the uninstall dialog, check the box to Delete the driver software for this device if available.

To uninstall an unwanted Windows Update:

  • Type “View Installed Updates” in the Search box and then click on View Installed Updates – Control Panel from the Search results.
  • To uninstall the unwanted update, select it from the list and then click Uninstall.

To temporarily prevent the driver or update from being reinstalled until a new driver or updated fix is available, a troubleshooter is available that provides a user interface for hiding and showing Windows Updates and drivers for Windows 10. You can obtain and run the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter by downloading it from the Microsoft Download Center.

Windows 10 build 10240 is now coming in by Windows Updates. The update is called TH1 Professional 10240. After the update has come in and installed, there is no longer a watermark in the bottom right corner telling the Windows 10 build number. If you were on NVidia driver 353.49 prior to installing build 10240, you'll still be on NVidia driver 353.49 after build 10240 has finished installing. DXDIAG show DirectX feature levels 12.1, 12, 11.1, 11, etc. DXDIAG also reports that the SoundBlaster Zx drivers are WHQL, for those of you who have that sound card.

The NVIDIA GPU driver for Linux consists of multiple user space and
kernel space components, with the kernel space components implemented as
Linux kernel modules. The NVIDIA Linux driver package includes source
code for any portions of these kernel modules which interface directly
with the Linux kernel, and the NVIDIA kernel modules must be built
against the target kernel from a combination of these source code files
and precompiled binary portions. Beginning with the 355.xx release of
the NVIDIA Linux driver, a new layout and kernel module build system
will be used for the kernel modules that are included in the installer
package. Some key differences between the existing build system and the
new one include:

  * Each kernel module will have its own subdirectory within the top
    level kernel module source directory.

  * Invoking the kernel module build from the top level directory will,
    by default, build all NVIDIA kernel modules at once. For example,
    instead of first building "nvidia.ko" as a prerequisite to building
    "nvidia-uvm.ko", under the new build system, both "nvidia.ko" and
    "nvidia-uvm.ko" are built within the same `make` invocation, with
    the Linux Kbuild system handling the inter-module dependencies.

  * All built kernel modules will be saved to the top level directory.
    For example, instead of "nvidia.ko" being saved to the top level
    directory, and "nvidia-uvm.ko" being saved to the "uvm/"
    subdirectory, both modules will be saved to the top level directory.

  * The new build system no longer supports building multiple instances
    of the NVIDIA kernel module (e.g. "nvidia0.ko", "nvidia1.ko", ...)
    which are managed by a shared "nvidia-frontend.ko" frontend module.

As this new build system may prove disruptive to existing tools which
repackage the NVIDIA driver, NVIDIA is providing example installer
packages which demonstrate the new layout. These packages include the
driver components from the already released 352.21 driver, with the
layout of the kernel module source files updated to reflect the layout
that will be used in the upcoming 355.xx and later driver releases.
These packages also include a version of `nvidia-installer` which has
been updated to handle the new kernel module source layout. An archive
which contains source code for the updated version of `nvidia-installer`
should be available from the same location as the example packages and
this README document.

If you are a repackager of the NVIDIA Linux driver, please use these
packages to test any changes to your packaging tools that you may need
to make in order to accommodate the new layout.
